Mets ready for up-close look at their Jeurys Familia return

The Mets are already looking to get returns on their deadline moves.

The team called up Bobby Wahl — a 26-year-old pitcher who came from Oakland in the Jeurys Familia trade — on Thursday morning, interim general manager John Ricco told reporters. Wahl has major league experience, having tossed 7 2/3 innings in seven games with the A’s last season and pitching to a 4.70 ERA. The reliever has a 2.20 ERA in the Pacific Coast League this season between the Mets and A’s affiliates.

Wahl strikes out a lot of guys — 14.6 per nine innings — and throws hard.
