The Mets have agreed to terms with first-round pick Brett Baty. The third baseman from Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, who was drafted 12th overall, will be introduced Saturday at Citi Field, where he will take batting practice before the Mets play host to the Cardinals.
Baty was expected to sign for $3.9 million, according to MLB.com, below the slot value of $4.366 million, which would help the Mets as they try to sign third-round pick Matthew Allan, a right-handed pitcher out of Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla.
Allan was a first-round talent but was looking for a signing bonus in the range of $4 million, a source told The Post’s Mike Puma, in order to forego his scholarship to the University of Florida.
