Mets re-sign Ryne Stanek

The Mets have re-signed RHP Ryne Stanek to a one-year deal. Stanek was acquired at last year’s trade deadline from Seattle for Rhylan Thomas. A couple rough initial outings marred his regular season time with the Mets, where he posted a 6.06 ERA despite racking up the strikeouts across 16.1 innings. Come the postseason, however, Stanek was nails. Consistently called on to get big hitters out in high-leverage spots, the right-hander pitched to a 3.38 ERA over his eight innings of work.

This isn’t just a “getting the band back together” move though. Stanek has long displayed impressive stuff across nearly all public facing models, to the point where his peer group typically includes some of the best pitchers in baseball.
