Mets Re-Sign Devin Mesoraco

The Mets have re-signed catcher Devin Mesoraco to a minor league deal. This has to mean the eventual end to Travis d’Arnaud’s time in Flushing, right?

The Mets acquired Mesoraco last season for Matt Harvey — two players who needed a fresh start. Mesoraco was just adequate — 10 home runs and a .222 batting average. Definitely not enough to be the 2019 starter, but good enough to be the backup.

d’Arnaud will make three and a half million dollar in 2019 to ride the Mets bench. That seems like an awful lot of money that could be better spent elsewhere.
