The Mets have agreed on a one-year deal with Bartolo Colon worth roughly $7.25 million, according to multiple reports.
The deal, which is pending a physical, was first reported by Yancen Pujols, a writer based in the Dominican Republic. Pujols noted that Colon was also pursued by the Athletics and Braves.
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Colon had better offers elsewhere, but wanted to stay with the Mets due to his love of the fans, teammates, and the organization.
Before the Mets traded Jon Niese for Neil Walker last Wednesday afternoon, assistant GM John Ricco said that the club was open to bringing Colon back.
