Mets prospect Matt Reynolds ready for outfield work if asked

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson mentioned at his initial spring-training news conference last week that middle-infield prospect Matt Reynolds is now due to begin dabbling in the outfield for the first time in his professional career.

Reynolds said Monday that he has not been informed of anything official yet, but he is on board with that plan. The bottom line: There’s not exactly room in Triple-A Las Vegas’ middle infield anyway with Gavin Cecchini and Dilson Herrera likely to be assigned to the Pacific Coast League club.
