The Mets are calling up Triple-A Las Vegas infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil, with the idea that he'll initially play third base, reports Joel Sherman of the NY Post.
McNeil, 26, has been one of the most productive hitters in all of the minors this season. He's played primarily second base and third base during his career, and the Mets have had him shifting around a lot lately with Vegas -- including games in left field.
Mets manager Mickey Callaway spoke about McNeil earlier this month, hinting he could get his shot with the Mets soon.
