Mets promote Peter Alonso and Jeff McNeil to Triple-A Las Vegas

Top Mets prospects Peter Alonso and Jeff McNeil have been promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas from Double-A Binghamton. Alonso, a first baseman, will replace Dominic Smith, who was called up by the Mets this week, on the Vegas roster.

The 23-year-old Alonso hit .314/.440/.573 with Binghamton. His 1.012 OPS was the third-highest in the Eastern League, and he hit 15 home runs in his time with the team. He ranked seventh on Amazin Avenue’s list of the team’s top twenty-five prospects coming into the 2018 season.

McNeil is a 26-year-old left-handed infielder who has played second, third, and shortstop this year.
