Despite some scary moments in the ninth, the Mets earned other crucial victory over the White Sox by a score of 5-3.
The Mets jumped on the board early in the first inning against Chicago starter Davis Martin. With two out and nobody on, Mark Vientos hit a bloop single to get things going. Then Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker followed with back-to-back home runs to give the team an early 3-0 lead. It was Alonso’s 30th home run of the year which places him with Mike Piazza as the only Mets with four consecutive 30-home run seasons.
