Mets post 12 runs in franchise-record inning

NEW YORK -- The Mets took a blowtorch to their record books in the third inning Friday, scoring 12 times to set a franchise record for most runs in an inning.

Facing Giants starter Jake Peavy and reliever Mike Broadway, the Mets plated runs on a Michael Conforto RBI double, a Yoenis Cespedes two-run single, a Neil Walker run-scoring double, an Asdrubal Cabrera two-run double, and RBI singles from Curtis Granderson and Conforto. Cespedes then set the record with a screaming line-drive grand slam to left field.
