The Mets, Cardinals and Giants woke up Wednesday morning with identical 80-71 records as they race to secure the National League’s two wild-card spots. It could get very interesting over the final 11 games — and even afterwards, when MLB tiebreakers come into play.
Here’s a look at some of the scenarios:
If the Mets tie for the second wild card … They play a one-game playoff Oct. 3 for the right to advance to the Oct. 5 Wild Card Game. Home-field advantage goes to the team with the better head-to-head record.
