The Mets will honor the late Shannon Forde this season by having a shamrock and pink ribbon on the championship belt the players award one another after each win.
David Wright made the announcement while speaking at Forde’s memorial at Citi Field on Wednesday.
Forde, who was the senior director of media relations and who had worked for the Mets since 1994, passed away on Saturday at the age of 44 after a four-year battle with breast cancer.
“Shannon was a very unique person,” Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said in a press release last weekend.
