Mets players don’t agree with MLB’s new hazing rule

No longer will we see the Mets rookies, or any team’s rookies, parading in women’s clothing.

That makes Sandy Alderson happy. His players? A tiny sample didn’t think it was a problem in the first place.

“It’s something I’m very concerned about as a potential issue,” Alderson said Tuesday at Citi Field, as the Mets hosted their annual Kids Holiday Party. “I’ve seen it in the military. For all the camaraderie it’s supposed to promote, it’s divisive and I think undercuts morale. So you’ve got to be very careful about that.”

Baseball had held a longstanding tradition that, during the expanded-roster period in September, each club’s rookies would dress up in outrageous garb while walking in an opponent’s city, or checking into a hotel, or some other public display.
