The Mets lost both series they played this week, dropping two out of three to both the Giants and Cardinals, but avoiding the sweep by winning the finale of each series. With the exception of Wednesday’s game when they teed off against the Giants’ bullpen—deployed in an emergency situation to fill in for the injured Blake Snell—the offense was pretty mediocre this week. But we do have two new faces on this meter; J.D. Martinez has finally joined the team and Mark Vientos has been called up and both players have already made an impact.
The Mets placed Starling Marte on the bereavement list on Saturday, but before that he had another solid week, posting a 119 wRC+ in 17 plate appearances.
