The Mets placed reliever Carlos Torres on waivers after he was recently designated for assignment, according to ESPN's Adam Rubin.
New York had been in trade talks with multiple clubs about the 33-year-old Torres, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo tweeted Thursday night, and the Twins showed interest in him, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma.
However, after significant progress had not been made toward a deal, the Mets placed him on waivers.
In 241 innings for the Mets since 2013, Torres has a 3.59 ERA, while inducing a ground ball 46 percent of the time.
