Following their 4-2 win against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of their doubleheader, the Mets announced that Jeurys Familia would be going on the injured list with a right hip impingement. To take his place on the roster, the team is calling up Yennsy Diaz.
Familia became the second member of the bullpen to hit the IL today, following Robert Gsellman, who is dealing with a lat tear and will miss at least six to eight weeks. Familia last appeared for the Mets on June 20 against the Washington Nationals, allowing one earned run on two hits over two-thirds of an inning.
