The Mets have placed third baseman J.D. Davis on the injured list with a left hand sprain and called up right-handed relief pitcher Trevor Hildenberger to take his place on the active roster.
Having already missed some time earlier in the season after being hit by a pitch on the hand, Davis has just 48 plate appearances on the season, but he has hit extremely well in them with a .390/.479/.610 line, a pair of home runs, and a 197 wRC+. Davis suffered the wrist injury on a swing in the Mets’ win over the Phillies on Saturday night, which he left early.
