Ahead of their series finale with the Dodgers this afternoon, the Mets placed Edwin Díaz on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement and activated David Peterson for his first major league start of the 2024 season. Technically, the Mets optioned left-handed reliever Josh Walker to make room for Peterson on the roster and called him back up to take Díaz’s place on the active roster.
