The New York Mets have placed reliever Anthony Swarzak on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 4, with right shoulder inflammation and have recalled Jacob Rhame from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to today’s series finale with the Atlanta Braves.
The Mets signed Swarzak to a two-year deal during the offseason in the hopes that he would serve as an integral part of an improved bullpen. Unfortunately, he landed on the disabled list after the second game of the year with a left oblique strain and missed all of April and May with the injury.
