Mets Pitcher Jeurys Familia’s Domestic Violence Case Is Dismissed

A domestic violence charge against Mets relief pitcher Jeurys Familia was dismissed on Thursday by a municipal court judge in Fort Lee, N.J., after the prosecutor indicated that there was not enough evidence to move the case to trial.

The prosecutor, Arthur Balsamo, said that Familia’s wife, Bianca Rivas, told him scratches on her chest at the time of the incident were made by their 1-year-old son and that marks spotted on her cheek by the police came from her resting her face on her hand while lying down.

She also said two knives found on the bathroom floor by the police were used as wedges by Familia to seal the door to the bathroom, where he had temporarily barricaded himself after an argument.
