PORT ST. LUCIE - Jacob deGrom is your likely Citi Field Opening Day starter.
The right-hander is tentatively scheduled to start the Mets’ home opener April 8 against the Phillies, Terry Collins confirmed Tuesday.
DeGrom is expected to miss the first series, two games in Kansas City, as his wife is due to give birth to the couple’s first child on April 5, the date of the second game of the season.
So the Mets manager has him penciled in to start the home opener.
“As of today,” Collins added as a note of caution when he confirmed the expected start.
