The Mets have made a number of roster moves over the past week to try to manage their bullpen in the wake of the Edwin Díaz suspension along with numerous injuries, and now they’ve made another one. The team announced that they have optioned Tyler Jay—who pitched last night and came close to blowing the game in extra innings—and replaced him on the active roster with José Buttó, who makes his return to the majors after spending the last month and a half in Triple A.
Prior to getting sent down in May, Buttó made seven starts for the Mets this year and performed fairly well, putting up a 3.
