The Mets are open to acquiring depth for the starting rotation, though they are currently not being proactive about it, the NY Post's Joel Sherman reported late Tuesday.
Mike Bolsinger, Colby Lewis, Doug Fister, Alfredo Simon, Ryan Vogelsong, Tim Lincecum and Mike Pelfrey are currently available on the free-agent market.
However, according to Sherman, before the Mets sign someone from outside the organization, they'll likely turn to Rafael Montero and Triple-A pitcher Sean Gilmartin.
Montero, 25, is currently on the team's 25-man roster, where he's being considered a long reliever and potential spot starter.
