Mets one-hit by Marlins as Mickey Callaway ax looms

MIAMI — Mickey Callaway likely won’t be fired Sunday, but getting to Monday night could be another story altogether.

The Mets manager entered the realm of double-secret probation Saturday and, by fault of his own or not, may leave club COO Jeff Wilpon and general manager Brodie Van Wagenen with little choice but to end his managerial tenure should the team get swept Sunday by the worst team in baseball, the Miami Marlins.

Callaway’s lackluster crew is two-thirds of the way to that dubious achievement. On Saturday his beleaguered bunch resembled a collection of corpses in a fourth straight loss, 2-0 at Marlins Park, that pushed the Mets four games below .
