NEW YORK -- In just his 13th career start, Giants rookie Chris Heston tossed the 17th no-hitter in Giants history, cementing his name in the record books and blanking the Mets offense in Tuesday's 5-0 victory at Citi Field.
Once designated for assignment by the Giants in July 2013, Heston only made the starting rotation because Matt Cain began the season on the disabled list. And he had been inconsistent all season before his history-making performance Tuesday night.
He did not allow a walk and struck out 11. Heston's only blemishes were three hit batters, the first time that many were plunked during a no-hitter.
