The New York Mets clobbered the Boston Red Sox 10-2 at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers this afternoon to end their four-game losing streak. The offense scored three runs in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings in the victory.
Zack Wheeler had his best start of the spring, as he limited the Red Sox to just one hit over four scoreless innings. He struck out three Boston batters, including J.D. Martinez to finish off his afternoon. In the process, Wheeler lowered his Grapefruit League ERA to 4.05.
The Mets’ offense was led by Brandon Nimmo, who picked up two hits on the afternoon.
