The Mets’ story over the last few weeks has looked a lot like this: lose two games, win the getaway game. After each win, there’s been a sense that maybe this win is the one is what kicks the team into a new gear. Alas, tonight wasn’t that night, as the Mets dropped the series opener 3-1 to the first place Cleveland Guardians.
Tylor Megill made his first start since March 31st and, for the first two batters of the game, looked like the ‘good’ Megill. After inducing a leadoff flyout, Megill threw a nasty splitter to strike out old friend Andrés Giménez.
