PHILADELPHIA — While not acknowledging that Noah Syndergaard was hiding pine tar in his glove Monday night, Mets officials on Tuesday indicated they would be surprised if the right-hander is disciplined or even questioned by MLB.
Video surfaced of Syndergaard digging his index and middle fingers into the heel of his glove before touching the ball during his start on a chilly night at Citizens Bank Park on Monday.
Syndergaard indicated after the game that he had difficulty gripping the ball at times. Pine tar is banned for pitchers, but unless the opposing manager complains the rule is seldom enforced.
