Mets no longer seeking bullpen help

The Mets are no longer to trade for a reliever, a person familiar with the team's thinking recently said, according to a Aug. 23 report by MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.

However, later that day, Jon Niese was put on the disabled list, 24 hours after Steven Matz was put on the disabled list.

The Mets recently called up Triple-A starting pitcher Robert Gsellman to use in the bullpen, but he's now expected to replace Niese in the rotation.

According to DiComo, the Mets had recently been looking to acquire a right-handed reliever who had cleared waivers and was free to be traded.
