The Mets threw their second no-hitter in franchise history Friday night, with five pitchers blanking the Phillies 3-0.
Tyler Megill started the game and threw five hitless innings, only to be removed after 88 pitches. Drew Smith followed with 1.1 innings, Joely Rodriguez with one inning, Seth Lugo with two-thirds of an inning and Edwin Diaz closed things out with a perfect ninth.
It may not have had the excitement of Johan Santana’s epic game, but it is still a pretty nice achievement in what is shaping up to be a special year for the Mets.
