Rafael Montero, who was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday to make room on the roster for Danny Muno, will return to the majors for a spot start on April 28, Terry Collins said.
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, citing Mets officials, the Mets are not going to a six-man rotation. At the same time, they are not saying that Montero will be limited to one start. Rubin also noted that Montero getting a spot start will give every other starter an extra day of rest during a stretch where the Mets play 13 games in 13 days.
