Mets news: David Wright getting closer to return

David Wright, on the disabled list since April 15 due to a strained right hamstring, took live batting practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering his injury.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Wright has resumed all baseball activity except running the bases.

Wright first took grounders and did some running in a straight line on Monday.

Mets manager Terry Collins said that it hasn’t yet been determined if Wright will play in a rehab game before returning.

After the injury, it was revealed that Wright had a mild strain, and the estimate was that he would be out three weeks.
