The Mets were both undermanned and decimated by injuries in early-2015, leading to games where John Mayberry batted cleanup.
While this season isn’t that ugly, the Mets have turned to bench players and career minor leaguers to replace Lucas Duda, Travis d’Arnaud, and David Wright. And the results have been as expected, with the team scoring just nine runs while losing four of their last five games.
While d’Arnaud (strained rotator cuff) could begin a rehab assignment shortly, Duda (back) is expected to be out for at least another five weeks and Wright’s status is unclear.
