Michael Conforto could be at Citi Field within a week.
The Mets outfielder is continuing his rehab at extended spring training in Port St. Lucie, Fla., but general manager Sandy Alderson indicated Thursday that team brass will decide within a few days on Conforto’s next step.
With extended spring training set to conclude Sunday, Conforto could return to the Mets or begin a minor-league rehab assignment.
But since the minor-league season does not begin until April 5, there is a small window of potential inactivity for Conforto. If he rejoined the Mets, he would be eligible for removal from the disabled list Wednesday.
