The Mets have announced the rest of their coaching hires for the 2019 season, and the team has hired Chili Davis as hitting coach, Chuck Hernandez as bullpen coach, and Luis Rojas as quality control coach, a new role within the organization. That completes Mickey Callaway’s staff for the upcoming season after the team decided to shake things up, having already brought in Jim Riggleman as Callaway’s new bench coach, among other tweaks.
Davis has served as hitting coach for the A’s, Red Sox, and Cubs over the last seven seasons and had a good major league career at the plate himself from 1981 through 1999.
