METS 3, CARDINALS 1 (18 INNINGS)
ST. LOUIS - The frustration started to spill over in the 10th. The normally laid back Wilmer Flores threw his batting helmet down the right field line after being thrown out at first. Eight innings later, Flores would end the misery, scoring the go-ahead run as the Mets outlasted the Cardinals 3-1 in 18 innings at at Busch Stadium.
The Mets (48-44) snapped a two-game losing streak and avoided being swept by the Cardinals (58-34). They are 1-2 as they head into Washington for their fourth straight game, out of 10, against a first-place team.
