LOS ANGELES — The Mets are about to become entrenched in upstate New York.
Team officials were in Syracuse on Tuesday to announce a pending agreement that will put the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate in that city for at least the next 25 years. As part of the agreement, the state, Onondaga County and Syracuse will spend about $26 million in renovations to NBT Bank Stadium.
Effective immediately, the Syracuse Chiefs have been rebranded the Syracuse Mets.
“This has been a long road to get here,” Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said in Syracuse. “It’s a really exciting day for our franchise.
