Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters this afternoon that the team is moving Adrian Houser to the bullpen for the next time through their starting rotation. Houser started yesterday for the Mets and gave up four runs, all of them earned, in five innings of work.
Acquired in a trade with the Brewers alongside outfielder Tyrone Taylor over the offseason, Houser’s first six starts with the Mets have gone about as poorly as possible. He’s thrown 28.2 innings and has an 8.16 ERA with a 5.23 FIP. He’s issued 20 walks while notching just 16 strikeouts, which is—to put it mildly—not a recipe for success.
