The Mets were scheduled to begin their 2021 season last night in Washington, D.C., but their Opening Day game was postponed because the Nationals had a positive COVID test and concerns that there would be more. Those concerns proved to be valid, as two other players tested positive and one additional player was considered a likely positive.
While it doesn’t sound likely that the Mets and Nationals will play any games this weekend, there’s no official word on the other two games of the series yet. If Jacob deGrom pitches tomorrow, the earliest possible date, he’d be lined up to pitch the Mets’ home opener next week.
