Jacob deGrom pitched another gem, and the Mets picked up a win to open their West Coast trip. The lone low point for the team continued to be the bullpen. This time it was Matt Harvey giving up a late-inning run. It wasn’t enough for the Padres though and the Mets won 5-1 in San Diego.
The Mets claimed lefty reliever Buddy Baumann off waivers and will send him to Las Vegas to start his Mets career. He will be suspended for one game whenever he’s called up from Triple-A due to the Padres-Rockies brawl.
