The Mets held on for an 8-7 victory over the Nationals. They carried an 8-5 win into the ninth, but Adam Ottavino imploded once again and was pulled in favor of Jake Diekman, who allowed an inherited run to score but otherwise shut the door. José Iglesias and Starling Marte each contributed three hits, while Mark Vientos hit another home run.
