Throughout his career Jacob deGrom has been dominant in the sunshine and the final game against the Padres was no different. He pitched seven shutout innings, and in a nice change of pace, had some offense backing him up. Todd Frazier was the offensive standout by driving in two big runs with a double. After scoring four runs in the first inning the outcome was never really in doubt with deGrom cruising. It got dicey in the ninth when Edwin Diaz exited after taking a Manny Machado liner off his foot, but Luis Avilan got the job done to give the Mets the series victory.
