Steven Matz melted down in the fourth inning of Friday night’s game against the Pirates and that was all it took for their recent winning streak to come to an end. The offense was again decent, scoring four runs, but between Matz’s five run fourth inning, and a three-run homer given up by Tyler Bashlor in relief, there was no way the Mets were going to climb out of the hole.
