Mets Morning News: Ramirez and Warthen out; coaching shake up continues

Related Topics: Dan Warthen

The Mets coaching and training staff went through a major shake-up. The team fired longtime pitching coach Dan Warthen, and head athletic trainer/part-time grim reaper Ray Ramirez got the axe, too.

Having been rumored to be staying in the organization, it was announced that Terry Collins will be accepting a position as "Special Assistant to the GM."

With the search for a new skipper underway, Joel Sherman thinks Sandy Alderson needs to let some 'long-shot' candidates have a chance to manage.

Sandy may have also hinted at a possible pitching coach candidate.
