The Mets snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory in Pittsburgh yesterday. Luis Torrens provided the key hit—a three-run double with two outs in the third. David Peterson worked in and out of trouble and gave up a two-run homer to Oneil Cruz, but nothing more over a shorter-than-you’d-like 4 1⁄3 innings of work. In a nice change of pace, the bullpen held firm, with José Buttó earning the win for his 1 2⁄3 scoreless innings in relief and Reed Garrett bending, but not breaking in the seventh.
