The Mets were down 3-1, had two outs in the ninth, Jose Reyes at the plate, and improbably they still won the ballgame! The Diamondbacks’ defense failed them which allowed Jose Bautista to double home Jose Reyes. Brandon Nimmo then gave the Mets the lead with an absolute blast and Asdrubal Cabrera added another for good measure. Despite a slip-up by Dominic Smith, Robert Gsellman closed the door to give the Mets a feel-good win.
Nimmo and Wheeler first met in the low minors as top prospects and now both are producing at the major league level.
