The Mets lost Dedniel Nunez, a 24 year old right-handed pitcher who spent 2019 between Single-A and Advanced-A, in this year’s Rule 5 Draft to the Giants. Nunez was the Mets’ 21st best prospect for 2020.
The Mets drafted five players and lost five players in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft. The Mets drafted outfielder Drew Ferguson, right-handed pitcher Justin Dillon, shortstop Drew Jackson, right-handed pitcher Jesus Reyes, and left-handed pitcher Jose Zorrilla, and lost shortstop Sebastian Espino, catcher Wilfred Astudillo, right-handed pitcher Ezequiel Zabaleta, and second baseman Mitchell Tolman.
