It was as perfect a night as the Mets have had all season. Facing their hated rivals, the Mets not only eliminated the Nationals from playoff contention, but also got their ace, Jacob deGrom a much-needed win to bolster his Cy Young chances. While deGrom pitched brilliantly as usual, the Mets finally gave him the run support to back it up. Jay Bruce lead the way as the Mets put up four runs, which was more than enough for deGrom, who gave up a mere one run in seven innings of work.
