The Mets returned to New York to face the Phillies with David Wright in tow. Though he’s still not cleared to play, the Mets’ captain sat in the dugout during the game. The Mets managed to stay in it against Aaron Nola, but were ultimately unable to hold off the Phillies after Rhys Hoskins hit a tie-breaking homer in the eighth inning to put the Phillies ahead 4-3.
A possible standoff between the Mets and David Wright is looking more and more inevitable as the team continues to claim he’s not ready to return.
