Mets Morning News: Mets bounce back, but lose Minter to triceps injury

The Mets bounced back from Friday’s walk-off loss to shut out the Nationals 2-0 on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The game was delayed at the start due to rain and then in the bottom of the first, a pop-up storm caused another 45-minute delay. Luckily, Clay Holmes overcame this obstacle to pitch five scoreless innings. Francisco Alvarez’s two-run home run down the right field line in the bottom of the second was responsible for the game’s only runs. Danny Young and Reed Garrett each contributed a scoreless inning in relief and then unfortunately A.J. Minter had to depart the game after recording just one out in the eighth due to triceps tightness.
